President Elect Jim Roberts
PRESIDENT ELECT Jim Roberts is a Teaching Professor of Computer Science. He has been at Carnegie Mellon since 1984 and has worked almost entirely in undergraduate education. He was the Freshman Advisor for Computer Science for eleven years before returning full time to the classroom in fall, 2005. In 1991 he was awarded the Herbert A. Simon Award for Teaching Excellence in Computer Science. In 2001 he received the Carnegie Mellon Undergraduate Advising Award. He and his wife, Linda enjoy outdoor sports including kayaking, cycling, and hiking. He fences competively and is nationally ranked in Mens Veterens 60+ foil.
