Doctoral Career Path Seminars, 2009-10

Doctoral Career Path Seminars, 2009-10

Past Seminar Presentations

The Doctoral Career Paths seminars are an outgrowth of the more broadly focused Professional Development Seminar Series. They feature panels of PhDs from a range of disciplines who have pursued a variety of careers. The 2009-10 series will cover alternative career paths for PhDs, that is, careers outside the academy, from professional technical writing to policy careers and more. Panelists will describe their careers, the bases for their career decisions along the way, and the outcomes. These personal histories are a vivid way to illustrate what various career options are like, day to day and over time, in terms of culture, professional norms, and career benchmarks. The goal of the Doctoral Career Paths seminars is to help doctoral students focus their career ambitions.

Please note: Dessert and coffee/tea will be served at the Doctoral Career Path Seminars this year; no lunches.
